Firstly may I apologies for being a bit late with this, and might I include the fact that the whole website has not been updated as quickly as I would like, there are many factors mainly the reason is things have been a bit hectic, but this article should be part of our up dating.

For anyone who doesn’t know you can get a record of how many are viewing a website every month, not I might add who they are! Thank you to everyone who has looked I hope it has been interesting, our figures are quite amazing.

Now to more important matters, may I take the opportunity to congratulate the staff and children of Ballasalla Primary school, which for those who do not know is part of our estate, not only as a building but as part of our community, for there wonderful effort in raising the magnificent amount of £271 for Water Aid, the coins where laid out in a long coin river in the main hall, also I am told a number of Skipping records where broken on the same day, congratulation to all, more details can be read in the ‘Malew News Page’

Also on the Thursday before Easter there was a fabulous exhibition of Easter eggs made and decorated by the pupils, I am sorry I did not have my camera.
Easter was then upon us at least our education authority did not get involved with that silly idea done across, of not having the Easter holiday as part of the school holiday, what will those people across think of next, school Christmas holidays in November maybe!

Easter saw a surprise for many, me in church! Not a regular occurrence I regret to say, it was nice to see a packed church, and not only the usual Easter service but a christening as well, and to follow an egg hunt for the children, which meant that come dinner my son was not really hungry, not the only one probably. I thought the Easter Bonnet competition was of a very high standard, congratulation to all, including one of our committee members, I am looking forward to our next meeting!!  Thanks to all, especial Rev Michael Roberts.

Not I think there is anyone who does not know, we will not be having an election this time for our commissioners here in Malew as there was 5 candidates for 5 seats, so all are appointed, we will however be seeing one new commissioner, due to the long serving member David Allesbrook’s retirement for, as he tells us the second time! This does not mean by any means that he will be hanging up his boots; he is and will remain one of the driving forces behind the association.

As I mentioned last time, the ‘Malew Guardian’ is being produced, well I am informed that most people should receive their copies through the letter box in the next few days, if you don’t have one they should be, I am told, available in the Ballasalla shops by the middle to the end of next week, 16th to 18th April. If you are not in the Malew or even the Isle of Man area you can get one through the website for a donation of £1 or more if you wish, plus postage (click here for details) Who knows this is the first, one day it might be worth money as an historic first print.

Well that is it for now or just about, I have spent, like many here, today (Saturday) in the garden, you could hear the mowers and hedge trimmers, my hedge will have to wait as a Blackbird has decided to build a nest in it, it was nice to have the sun on your back, even if the wind still had a bit of a chill, for those who don’t know, according to the packet, now is the time to start your sweet peas, so I have. The lighter evenings are much better, my son now gets to and from his football at Malew F C with Graham in day light, and I have noticed a reduction in the amount of electricity we are now using in the house, I heard the other day, that contrary to beliefs the highest amount of electricity usage is not with cooking etc, but the use of lights. As the peak time moves with the fall of night.

Anyway that’s me done for now.

All the best to you all
