Poacher's Pocket housing row talks

A SELECT committee looking into the Poacher's Pocket planning row will hear evidence on January 31, into the housing scheme in Ballasalla.

The Tynwald select committee is investigating the Department of Local Government and the Environment's handling of the planning application and the department's apparent failure to advertise changes to the proposal.

Neighbours say in a change to the original application – for 22 bungalows – properties are being built on ground raised by as much as four feet.

The select committee will hear evidence from planning committee chairman Clare Christian MLC, Ian McCauley, director of planning and building control, Ken Kinrade, chief executive of the DLGE, and David Allsebrook, from the Ballasalla and District Residents' Association.

The hearing starts at 10.15am in the Millennium Room, Legislative Buildings, Finch Road, Douglas.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. For further information, contact Philip Lo Bao, clerk to the committee, at the Legislative Buildings in Douglas, or by email at  enquiries@tynwald.org.im
