Manx Southern Area Policeman On Top Of The World
Southern Area Police Sergeant Phil Drowley reached the summit of Mount Everest at 5am Nepalese time on Saturday 24th May 2008; this was his second attempt, his previous attempt failed because he fell ill.
This gives Sergeant Drowley the prestigious title of the first Manxman to climb Everest.
Sergeant Drowley’s success was all the sweeter for the fact that he used it raise money for Ronald McDonald House.
Congratulations to Sergeant Drowley and it is hoped that coming back to sea level in the South of the Island is not too much of a come down. No doubt he will hear more of such poor jokes.
