SOUTHERN AREA PLAN CONSULTATION EXHIBITION

The Southern Area Plan Consultation Exhibition arrived at Ballasalla Village Hall on Thursday 19th March 2009, and ran from 12.30pm till 7.30pm, it gave a very good display of aerial photos and drawn up plans of  the South and relevant to the area in particular  Ballasalla and Malew,  the texts included the aims of  Government with regard to housing etc. The staff present were friendly and helpful and it is believed a good number of residents took the opportunity to have a look.

Planning is admittedly not the most exciting of subjects, and all involved are aware of the glaze that can come over the general publics eyes when the subject comes up, but it must be pointed out that planning effects everyone at sometime or other, in fact not only does it effect the near future but also our children’s  future.

So it is hoped that everyone will take the opportunity to fill out the paperwork which was available at the Exhibition or just write a letter the Planning Policy Team at DoLGE to be received by Friday 27th March 2009. DoLGE have made an approach to everyone asking such questions as:

  • What do you like about your area?
  • What don’t you like?
  • What can be improved, and how?
  • What do you want more of?
  • What do you want less of?
  • How would you change things?
  • What do you want to keep as they are?

By putting our ideas and views  we have a say in what happens it would be very easy to say Government will do what ever they want, but if ideas aren’t put, how will they know what is wanted.

The Ballasalla and Malew area in particular have a lot of things which need changing, improving or adding, a village plan, play areas, green areas just to mention three things, there are many so it is hoped people will take this chance. This is also the message to all areas of the Isle of Man when your chance comes.
