Rodan raises profile of important health issue

Questions in the House of Commons regarding the Isle of Man's Reciprocal Health Agreement with the United Kingdom will given MPs a better understanding of the issue, according to Speaker of the House of Keys and former health minister Steve Rodan.

After discussions with Mr Rodan, Thurrock MP Andrew MacKinlay has taken up the Island's cause and yesterday received a written answer to his questions.

Mr Rodan says he hopes it will raise the profile of the matter and encourage more MPs to ask why the UK has scrapped the long standing arrangement.

When the Reciprocal Health Agreement ends in April, Isle of Man residents who are injured or fall ill while in the UK will have to pay for any extended hospital treatment.
