Inquiry now likely over Langness dispute

The Langness dispute looks set to continue for some time to come.

Tynwald has voted against a report which proposed creating a legally-established footpath around the south-east of the beauty spot.

The majority of members opposed the report and felt it leaned to much in favour of landowner Jeremy Clarkson and his wife. The dispute began when Mr Clarkson closed a section of the path crossing his land to protect his family's privacy.

It now seems likely a public inquiry will settle the long-running battle between the Clarksons and the protest group PRoWL (Public Rights of Way Langness), which is objecting to the path being re-routed from the tip of the Langness peninsula.
