Flood waters trap motorist in ford  Torrential rain has been causing havoc on the Island’s roads and has prompted a warning from the emergency services.
Standing water was reported at Richmond Hill and Peel Road in Douglas, and in the Greeba area and from Brandish Corner down to Hillberry.
At Rushen Abbey a car got stuck in the ford, and the driver is understood to have been helped from the vehicle (see picture).
At lunchtime the Emergency Services Joint Control Room said the roads were still passable with care, but motorists should be wary.
The Mountain Road has seen almost two and a half inches of rain in the last twelve hours, and there was an inch at Ronaldsway Airport over the same period.
Emergency crews dealt with the incident at Rushen Abbey.
A fire engine, ambulance and water rescue team were sent to the scene.
It's understood a woman was helped from her car as waters rose at the ford and the vehicle was being recovered.
More rain is forecast for this evening.
