Firework Causes Fire At Home In Clagh Vane

A banger firework was thrown over a wall into the garden of a house on Barrule Drive on the Clagh Vane Estate Ballasalla on Saturday evening causing a fire amongst plastic items next to a wheelie bin beside the back door. The tenant who wishes to remain anonymous said ‘I was having tea with my 8 year old son when there was a large explosion and a flash, when I went outside the kitchen mop and brush were well alight, I managed to put them out, had we not been here the wheelie bin and plastic back door would have gone up, possibly causing a more serious fire. I can not understand why it was done this is the 3rd such incident we have had since we moved in 4 months ago’ the police attended and are investigating.

Webmaster Note:

The death of Mary Fox a mother of 9 in Cornwall (Click here for full story) shows just how dangerous this incident could of become. Fireworks are lethal! They are not toys they are gunpowder bombs and should be left for professionals to use.

This time the residents were ok thankfully, but the next household may not be so lucky. If you have any information that could help the police with their enquiries please contact them, it can be done anonomusly if you are concerned. Or you can contact BADRA and we will inform them on your behalf. Either click here for contact details or you can email me at webmaster@BADRA.org

Thank you
