Only one of the 18 beach’s tested in the Isle of Man by the Marine Conservation Society was recommended this was Derbyhaven in Malew. Although only 4 beach’s failed. The report can be read in short below or in full from the Society website

Isle of Man – 1 beach is MCS Recommended on the Isle of Man this year, down from 2 last year. A total of 4 beaches failed the European legal minimum standard. The island undoubtedly suffered from the wettest summer on record but water quality on about a third of the tested beaches bore the brunt of any storm pollution run-off remarkably well. However, the IRIS sewage treatment plant came online in April 2004 and bathing water quality as a whole is still not what MCS expected from a facility costing an estimated £170 million - about £2,300 per person. The north and west of the island have yet to be the sea at a number of places around the island, including Peel.
