CROSSAG / CLAGH VANE UPDATE

Today 14th July 2009 sees an application to Tynwald by the Minister for Department of Local Government and the Environment Mr John Shimmin for the money to do a number of projects around Clagh Vane, including the alterations/refurbishments of the parking areas and footpaths on Barrule Drive, Cobbold Place, Balthane Square and Quines Square, and refurbishment and improvements within and around Crossag Close, and finally the demolition of houses, so as to move towards the replacement of these with apartments and a bungalow, attached to the north side of the entrance of Clagh Vane and alterations to the entrance of Clagh Vane.

As far as the subject of the failed planning application for Crossag Farm this is now in its final death throws, as it is subject of a select committee looking into the contract dealings between DoLGE and J.G.Kelly, Jackson Homes (Southern) etc. this can be read on the Tynwald website. There is a number of subjects of interest to residents one of which was the answer by Mr K.Kinrade Chief Executive of DoLGE that a future application for houses on the site might occur within the next 12 months, although it would be done in phases and possibly by separate developers for each phase, also no application would be put forward until the approval of the Southern Area Plan.

Also we would like to reply to the statement made by Mr Kinrade in an answer to the Chairman of the select committee which is as follows:

The Chairman: Thank you. Can I just also… it was raised this morning in evidence by Mr Hawker; he said he was given to understand that the trustees of the Jackson Family Trust were based in the U.S. Is that correct?

Mr Kinrade: I heard that and I think he attributed that to me. It is the first time I have heard that.  Although I think certain people, maybe from BADRA, had mentioned that previously but it did not come from me.

I do not know if this is the place to answer this? But I have it on good authority that we (BADRA) did not know of the US link until it appeared in the select committee evidence.

I hope this updates everyone, might I take this opportunity to apologise for any delays in updating this site, and it is due to the fact that I (Editor) have been moving house.
