Bus passenger hurt after driver slams brakes to avoid BMW

An elderly woman injured her arm after being flung from her seat on a bus when the driver slammed on the brakes to avoid crashing into an overtaking BMW.

It is alleged that at around 2pm on Monday a silver BMW car, with a Jersey number plate, overtook the bus on the
Douglas Road
between the Black Boards and Ballasalla, into the flow of oncoming traffic.

As a result, a van heading towards Douglas had to take evasive action, and the bus driver had to make an emergency stop when the BMW cut back in.

The woman received a minor injury which was treated at the scene.

Castletown Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or has knowledge of the silver BMW, and in particular the driver of the van who had to swerve to avoid a head on collision.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police constable Lee Wright at Castletown police station on 822222 or call the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
